About Zamzam Decor

Design that is drawn carefully and built properly.

Studio

Design, workshop and site under one roof

Our story

Started in a workshop, grown by referral

Zamzam Decor began as a small joinery workshop making kitchens for Nairobi homeowners who wanted something better than the standard flat-pack. Clients kept asking the same question: “could you design the rest of the house as well?”

That question became the business. Today we hold a full design practice and a production workshop under the same management — interior and exterior design, kitchens and cabinetry, and complete fit-outs for residential, commercial, hospitality, religious and institutional clients.

Almost all of our work still arrives the way it did at the beginning: someone who has stood in a finished Zamzam Decor space tells someone else about it.

What guides us

Five commitments we hold ourselves to

These are not slogans on a wall — they are the standards we are judged against on every site.

Exclusivity

Your design is yours. We do not recycle layouts between clients or lift schemes from a catalogue, because your building and your habits are not the same as anyone else’s.

Precision

Measure twice, cut once, and never let a site assumption reach the workshop. Millimetre accuracy is what separates a fitted kitchen from an installed one.

Honest Pricing

Itemised quotations, material options at three levels, and a rule that any variation is agreed in writing before it happens.

Communication

A named contact, weekly progress updates and photographs. You should never have to ask what is happening on your own project.

Responsible Sourcing

Locally milled hardwoods and Kenyan suppliers wherever the specification allows, with imports reserved for what genuinely cannot be matched here.

Accountability

One contract, one team, one guarantee. If something is not right at handover, it is ours to put right.

Our journey

How the studio grew

A decade of steady expansion, driven almost entirely by client referral.

  1. 2014

    The workshop opens

Zamzam Decor starts as a specialist joinery workshop building bespoke kitchens and wardrobes for Nairobi homeowners.

  2. 2016

    Design practice added

Growing demand for whole-house work leads to an in-house design team, space planning and the first 3D visualisation service.

  3. 2018

    Commercial fit-outs

The studio takes on its first multi-floor office fit-outs in Westlands and Upper Hill, adding phased delivery for occupied buildings.

  4. 2020

    Hospitality & religious work

Boutique hotel and mosque projects bring specialist detailing — acoustics, high-traffic durability and traditional craft — into the practice.

  5. 2022

    Institutional projects

Government and institutional refurbishments introduce formal tender documentation, compliance reporting and audit-ready delivery.

  6. Today

    Nine disciplines under one roof

From a single utility room to a complete building, the same studio, workshop and site team see every project through to handover.

The team

Who you will actually be working with

Every project is assigned a designer, a workshop lead and a site supervisor — the same three people from start to finish.

Lead Designer

Owns the brief, the layout, the material palette and the 3D visuals. This is the person you sit with at concept stage and who signs off the final styling.

Workshop Lead

Translates approved drawings into cutting lists and manages fabrication of every cabinet, panel and joinery item before it leaves the workshop.

Site Supervisor

Runs the installation programme, coordinates trades, protects finished areas and sends you the weekly progress report.

In their words

Clients on working with us

We had been quoted twice for our Lavington maisonette and both felt like guesswork. Zamzam Decor walked the house, produced drawings we could actually understand, and the final bill matched the estimate. The kitchen alone changed how we use the ground floor.

Amina & Yusuf K.

Residential Client, Lavington

Our office fit-out ran over two floors while staff were still working. The team phased the programme around us, kept the site clean, and handed over on the date they promised. Clients notice the reception the moment they walk in.

Peter Mwangi

Operations Director, Westlands

For the prayer hall we needed someone who understood both the craft and the tradition. The detailing on the mihrab and the acoustic work in the main hall exceeded what the committee imagined.
